Schneider signs with Peru State

North Platte Community College volleyball player Allie Schneider has signed a letter of intent to continue her athletic career at Peru State College.

The 5-foot, 9-inch setter from Humphrey, Neb. was one of four NPCC volleyball players to be named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region IX Team last season.

"I chose Peru initially because it has an amazing education program," Schneider said. "I saw that they got a new volleyball coach and considered playing. When I talked to her, I got excited about the opportunity and thought it would be a good fit for me."

During her final season at NPCC, Schneider provided a total of 999 assists, which put her 10th in the nation, and had an average of 8.32 assists per set, ranking her 31st at the national level. Schneider was also second in the region in both total assists and assists per set.

Altogether, Schneider boasts career totals of 1,156 assists, 138 kills and 346 digs. She helped the Knights win the regional championship her freshman year and advance to nationals.

Schneider has consistently been on either the Dean's or President's List during her time at NPCC, and during the 2020-21 academic year, Schneider also qualified for the NJCAA's All-Academic Second Team for her efforts in the classroom.

"We are excited to have Allie continue her volleyball career," said NPCC head volleyball coach Alexa McCall. "She has done a lot of great things for our program during her time here as an athlete, student and leader. She is a great representative of our Knight family, and I know that she will continue to excel at Peru. I think she can help the program with her experience and leadership."

Even though she's moving on, NPCC will always have a special place in Schneider's heart.

"I loved my time at North Platte," Schneider said. "I met some amazing friends, teammates, coaches and instructors. I know I would not be at the level I am both academically and athletically if I had not chosen NPCC. The opportunities I had are ones not many people get, so I am very grateful for that and for all the support I received."
