Knights drop game to MCC

McCook, Neb. - The North Platte Community College Knights volleyball team fought a long, hard battle but ultimately lost their game against McCook Community College Friday night.

NPCC started out strong in set one, holding the lead all the way through and beating McCook 25-18. The Knights trailed MCC by just a point or two in the beginning of the second set, tied about halfway in, then took control and finished 25-23.

Capitalizing on that momentum, NPCC grabbed the lead early in the third set. The Knights remained neck and neck with McCook until the end when they fell 23-25.

MCC maintained a five-to-six-point lead throughout the fourth set and pushed the Knights to a fifth. North Platte dropped the fourth set 17-25 and was ultimately defeated in the fifth 10-15.

"This one stings," said NPCC Head Volleyball Coach Alexa McCall. "We controlled the ball and did a really good job of executing in the first two sets. Our serve receive fell apart, and we played defense too much. We have to find a way to get out of those situations and turn it around."

Morgan Ramsey, of Bartlett, notched 13 kills in the game, and Kim Krise, of Briggsdale, Colo., had 11. Katy Bartell, of Eustis, went for 21 digs. Allie Schneider, of Humphrey, had three serving aces and 30 assists.

That brings the Knights to 16-14 on the season.

They will play their last regular season game Saturday morning. NPCC will take on Northeast Community College at 10 a.m. in the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
