NPCC Volleyball wins one, loses one during second day of tourney

The second day of the RKP Invite in Beatrice looked a lot like the first day for the North Platte Community College Knights volleyball team – with one win and one loss.

The Knights dropped their first game to Colby Community College in four sets: 13-25, 25-27, 25-19 and 25-27.

Kimberlyn Krise, of Briggsdale, Colo., led with 13 kills followed by Morgan Ramsey, of Bartlett, with 12. Allie Schneider, of Humphrey, added 50 assists while Katy Bartell, of Eustis, recorded 25 digs. Ramsey also contributed five ace serves, and Bartell had three aces in the game.

"I thought we played Colby really tough," said NPCC Head Volleyball Coach Alexa McCall. "We had 10 ace serves as a team and served and passed well."

The Knights then went on to score a 3-1 win against the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens. The sets were: 25-21, 24-26, 25-15 and 25-22.

Ramsey had 16 kills in that game while Krise had 12 and Avery Johnson, of Hayes Center, had six. Bartell finished with 16 digs. Madi Neely, of Broken Bow, put up three blocks.

"I would have liked to see better execution against Coffeyville," McCall said. "We have to work to be more consistent and have less errors. But overall, I was glad to see us get a win today."

The Knights are now 2-2 on the season.

Their next game will be at the Northeast Volleyball Tournament against Garden City Community College at 5 p.m. Friday in Norfolk.
