Knights get redemption against Runnin’ Lopes

Lamar, Colo. – North Platte splits the season series with Lamar Community College with an 83-39 win on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Dazjanae Greene led the Knights with 17 points, while Nariah Golden chipped in 17 points off the bench. Jada Grigsby rounded out the Knights players in double figures with 11 points, as North Platte improves to 13-9 on the year.

Three straight three pointers helped the Knights jump out to a 16-3 lead inside the final minute of the opening quarter. Lamar closed out the period and opened the second quarter with a pair of threes to cut the deficit down to seven.

North Platte responded with a 23-2 run over the next nine minutes to build a 39-11 advantage on a pair of free throws from Kateria Gooden. Lamar closed out the quarter with a short spurt, but still faced a sizable deficit headed into the halftime break.

North Platte continued to pour it on in the second half, as the lead grew to 68-23 in the early seconds of the fourth quarter. Lamar used a short run to narrow the margin down to 73-35, but the Knights outscored the Runnin' Lopes 8-4 over the final 3:28 to return to the win column.

North Platte returns to the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 10 for a Region IX matchup. Tip is set for 2 p.m. against Central Community College.
