NPCC Softball adds more players to next year’s roster

Two softball players from Hawaii will join the North Platte Community College Knights Softball Team next season. They are Krysta-Lyn "Ulu" Lewis, of Waimea, and April Grace, of Kawaihae.

Lewis served as catcher for both the Honokaʻa High and Intermediate School Dragons softball team and the Gold Coast Little League Softball Team.

"I chose North Platte because it was the first school to actually see me and the potential that I have," said Lewis.

Lewis is the daughter of Anuhea Lewis, of Waimea.

Grace is a pitcher and infielder for the Hawaii Preparatory Academy softball team. Like Lewis, she also played for Gold Coast.

"I chose North Platte because it seemed like a perfect fit for my intentions and growing as a person and player," said Grace.

Grace comes to North Platte after throwing the first no hitter in her high school's history. She was on the winning team at the Hawaii Amateur Softball Association state championships and also played on the team that finished second in the 2021 Little League Softball World Series.

Grace's parents are Kalani and Kaliko Grace, of Kawaihae.

"We are excited to add these two young ladies to our program," said NPCC Head Women's Softball Coach Janelle Higgins. "They will both bring depth to our current roster and depth in the circle and behind the plate."
