Conquistadors beat Knights in Dodge City

Dodge City, Kan. - North Platte Community College Softball dropped two games to Dodge City Community College Sunday. The final scores were 11-1 and 13-2. 

The Knights got things moving in the first inning of game one, when Cameron Rollison singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring a run. 

Dodge City tied things up in the bottom of the first inning and pulled away for good with one run in the third. 

Angelina Lockhart pitched for NPCC. She allowed nine hits and 11 runs over four innings, striking out one. 

Kelsey Woodhouse and Elena Montoya also each managed one hit in the game. 

The conquistadors then ran away with an early lead in game two – resulting in victory. 

The Knights struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Dodge City, giving up 13 runs. 

Jenny Singer led things off in the pitcher's circle for North Platte. She allowed three hits and six runs over one inning, walking one. Taelyn Dakamas threw three innings out of the bullpen.

Dakamas, Jayden Horner, Woodhouse and Lili Kukučková each collected one hit to lead the Knights. 

The scores bring North Platte to 1-21 on the season. 

"We keep fighting every day," said Janelle Higgins, NPCC head women's softball coach. "We just have to help ourselves every inning and not get frustrated with the plays we can't control." 

The Knights will remain in Kansas for their next set of games. They will play Pratt Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Monday.
