Jones leads Knights at McCook Community College Tournament

McCook, Neb. – The North Platte Community College men's golf team concluded the final day of the McCook Community College Tournament at the Heritage Hills Golf Course on Friday. Knights finished sixth at 72-over par.

Jayden Jones rebounded from an opening day 82 to finish the tournament 17-over par after a round of 79 on Friday. Jones finished 17 strokes back of Joshua Chapman of Eastern Wyoming who paced the field with an even par tournament.

Freshman Taytom Timbers started the final round just five over, but a second round 85 placed him tied for 28th place in the field. David Winkelmann concluded the two-day tournament tied for 37th at 21-over, while Caeson Clarke tied for 39th at 23-over.

Treyten York and Cole Kramer had identical opening round scores of 89, but each bested their opening round to finish in the top 50 of the golfers in the field.

Knights will head to Sterling, Colo. for the two-day Northeastern Invite beginning on Thursday, April 4 at the Sky Ranch Golf Course.
