Knights return to win column with victory over Eastern Wyoming

Torrington, Wyo. – Parker Baumann led all North Platte scorers with 26 points, as the Knights return to the win column with a 72-59 win over the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming College on Saturday night.

The opening half featured back and forth action, as the Knights and Lancers exchanged the lead five times in the opening twenty minutes. A 6-0 burst gave North Platte the largest lead of the opening half, but Eastern Wyoming responded with their own run over the final 2:56 to knot the game up at the halftime break.

A 7-0 run helped the Knights take control of the game in the early stages of the second half. North Platte continued to solidify their lead as the margin flashed into double digits with 4:31 to play. Eastern Wyoming cut the deficit down to seven inside the final minute, but North Platte went a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the final minute to close out the win.

Knights (4-5) return to road action on Friday, Dec. 8 against Western Wyoming College in Sterling, Colo. The North Platte Community College athletic department will be kicking off a winter coat drive beginning next Saturday. All donated coats will be distributed to the local Connection Shelter and Rape/Domestic Abuse Program of North Platte.
