North Platte falls to Laramie County to open Region IX weekend

Cheyenne, Wyo. – Michael Cooper tallied 17 points to lead the Knights, but a run midway through the second half powered Laramie County Community College to the 88-65 win on Friday night.

Laramie County held just a three-point advantage as teams reached the midway point of the first half. A 6-0 spurt helped extend the Golden Eagles lead to 25-16, before a Bryce Baez layup temporarily halted the run. Laramie County continued with the up-tempo offense down the stretch and managed to build a 39-27 lead at the halftime break.

In the second half, North Platte pulled back within nine after a Brodie Crown tip-in. Laramie County responded with a 9-0 run to stretch their lead back out to double digits. The Knights attempted one last run in the closing minutes, but Laramie County responded and closed out the win.

Knights (3-5) will return to the court on Saturday against the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming College. Tip is set for 5 p.m. inside the Eastern Wyoming Gymnasium in Torrington, Wyo.
