Men’s Basketball: Knights Halt Raiders Comeback

The Central Community College men's basketball team lost at North Platte Community College, 72-68, on Thursday night.

The Raiders got off to a slow start while the Knights took advantage and led 39-27 at halftime. Central got going offensively in the second half and got close on multiple occasions. However, the Raiders were unable to overtake North Platte's lead and the Knights held on for the four-point victory.

"We battled but dug ourselves too big of a hole early in the game," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "We got to within single digits multiple times, but too many missed layups and free throws and turnovers kept us from getting over the hump."

Kevin Cook and Caleb Muia (Pictured #10) each registered double-doubles. Cook scored 22 points and collected 13 rebounds while Muia totaled 17 points and 11 boards. Dwight Glover Jr. scored a dozen points.

With the loss, CCC is 14-8 on the season.

Up next, the Raiders will host Northeast Community College on Saturday. Before the game, sophomores Jayden Byabato, Kevin Cook, Dwight Glover Jr., Gavin Lipovsky, Caleb Muia, Tredyn Prososki and Emarr Vinson will be honored. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
