North Platte, Neb. – Alieze Moreno and Heaven Hutchison blasted home runs in a doubleheader loss to Colby Community College on Saturday.

The Trojans opened the scoring with six runs in the top of the first inning. North Platte got one back in the bottom of the second inning when Wren Herrick scored on a sacrifice bunt by Callie Klemenz, 6-1.
Colby added three more runs in the top of the third inning but were matched in the bottom half of the frame. Moreno sent the second pitch over the right field wall for a solo home run, before a Victoria Arellano single and a Hutchison walk put two Knights players on the basepaths. A passed ball advanced the baserunners into scoring position before a sacrifice bunt, and another passed ball plated the final two runs of the inning.
Trojans stretched their lead with 11 runs over the next two innings, before a solo blast from Hutchison gave the Knights their final run of the game.
Arellano took the loss, allowing 14 runs on 12 hits in three innings. Smith finished off the game in the circle and pitched two innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits.

Knights were held to just one hit while the Trojans blasted four home runs in game two. Colby got on the board in the top of the first inning with seven runs on eight hits.
Colby continued to add to their lead in the second inning with eight runs on four hits. The Trojans added four more runs over the next two innings to take the run-rule victory.
North Platte used four different pitchers with Moreno taking the loss. She allowed seven runs on eight hits in one inning of work. Arellano, Smith and Klemenz each saw action in the circle in game two.
Knights (2-12) return to the Dowhower Softball Complex on Monday for a doubleheader against Fort Hays Tech Northwest beginning at 2 p.m.
