Knights suffer tough loss to Runnin’ Lopes

Lamar, Colo. – Lamar Community College tallied 60-points in the second half to secure the win over North Platte on Friday night, 97-84.

Sedrick Nari recorded 22 points and five rebounds to lead the Knights. Trey Summers chipped in 17 points, while Mo Diao added 15 points and six rebounds.

"It was a tough shooting night for us," said head coach Jacob Brandl. "We need to play better on both ends of the floor to win on the road."

The Runnin' Lopes took an early lead on an 11-5 run, but a bucket from Nari slowed their momentum. Lamar continued to hold the lead until an Alex Harper three-point play pushed the Knights out front.

Lamar would go on to tie the game at 27-27, but a late 8-0 run helped North Platte take a 41-37 lead into halftime.

Knights and Runnin' Lopes continued to battle in the second half as the opening seven minutes featured seven lead changes. T-Shawn Bois connected on a deep corner three to trigger an 18-5 run with 13:29 to play.

Runnin' Lopes kept their momentum going as they stretched their lead to 17 inside the final five minutes. North Platte managed to cut the margin to 13 in the closing stages, but they could not get any closer.

North Platte (12-7) returns to road action on Tuesday to take on Northeastern Junior College. Tip is set for 7 p.m. in Sterling, Colo.
