Knights make it six straight with win over Rustlers
Sterling, Colo. – North Platte men's basketball makes it six straight with a 70-63 win over Central Wyoming College on Friday night.
Sedrick Nari led all-scorers with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. Trey Summers added 14 points, while Alex Harper (12) and Maurice Reide (10) rounded out the North Platte players in double-figures.
The lead changed hands three times in the early seven minutes of the first half. A 7-2 run sparked by four straight points from Harper, gave the Knights a five-point lead with 9:07 left to play in the half.
Leading 25-21, Summers connected from long distance to give the Knights their largest lead of the half. Central Wyoming cut the margin to two inside the final minutes, but the Knights still clung to a 34-33 lead at the halftime break.
The Rustlers used an 8-2 run to open the second half to reclaim the lead. North Platte trailed for the next 12:33, until back-to-back three pointers from Harper pushed the Knights out front for the final time.
Central Wyoming managed to keep the game within one possession, until the Knights used a 9-4 run over the final 3:37 to close out the game.
North Platte shot 53.8 percent (28-51) from the field, including 7-of-17 from downtown in the win.
Knights (8-5) will wrap up the opening half of the season on Saturday against Eastern Wyoming College. Tip is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. inside the Bank of Colorado Event Center in Sterling, Colo.
