North Platte concludes weekend with win over Golden Eagles

North Platte, Neb. – Knights utilized a late run in the opening half to secure the momentum and earn the 95-82 victory over the Golden Eagles of Laramie County Community College inside the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on Saturday evening.

Bruce Carpenter paced the Knights with 25 points and seven assists, while Ramiah Adedigba (26) and Antwone Gonzales (15) added their names to the double-digit column with stellar guard play.

It was a tightly contested opening ten minutes, as neither team mounted the momentum needed to build a comfortable lead. Leading 24-19, the Golden Eagles saw their lead quickly evaporate, as a 9-2 run capped off by an Adedigba floater gave the lead back to the Knights. North Platte carried the momentum the rest of the half, mounting another run in the closing minutes to take a 41-31 lead into the halftime break.

North Platte never relinquished their lead in the second half despite it being cut to three with four minutes to play. Laramie County utilized a 10-2 run to climb back into the game, but the Knights stood their ground and rebuilt a 12-point lead after Carpenter cut through the lane for the contested layup.

North Platte kept the momentum over the closing minutes and put the finishing touches on their third straight win.

Knights (6-3) will return to the hardwood on Tuesday, Dec. 6 to host Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference rival Central Community College. Tip is set for 6 p.m. inside the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
