NPCC Host Lamar on Sophomore Night

North Platte The North Platte Community College Knights basketball teams will host the Lamar Community College Lopes on Friday. It is the final regular season home game for each of the Knights teams.

The games have been designated as sophomore night.

Madisyn Francis, from Houston, Texas, and Nahatabaa Nacona, from Chinle, Ariz., will be playing in their final regular season game for the women.

Jakub Karwowski, from Warsaw, Poland, Nelo Nducuia, from Maputo, Mozambique, and Ilya Tyrtyshnik, from Kiev, Ukraine, will be playing their final home game of the regular season.

The Knights women's basketball team is 4-22 on the season and are looking for the season sweep of the Lopes. The Knights beat the Lopes on Feb. 2, 59-58, in Lamar.

Nacona leads the Knights in scoring at 11.6 points per game. Francis is next at 11.2 ppg, and Emily Joseph, from St. Petersburg, Fla., is averaging 11 ppg.

Katie Cox, from New Port Richey, Fla., is averaging 7.2 rebounds per game.

The Lopes are 2-26 on the season.

Hanna Diaz leads the Lopes in scoring at 15.3 ppg, followed by Lana Skripkina at 10.6 ppg.

Skripkina leads the Lopes in rebounding at 7.1 rebounds per game.

The men's game is a Region IX South Sub-Region matchup.

The Knights are 21-3 on the season, and are 8-2 in the South Sub-Region. They are in second place in the South Sub-Region behind Western Nebraska Community College.

The Knights have three players averaging in double figures. Tim Johnson, from Arlington, Texas, leads the Knights at 15.6 ppg. Courtney Murrell, from Carrollton, Texas, is second at 14.5 ppg. The other player to average in double figures is Karwowski at 10 ppg.

Karwowski leads the Knights in rebounding at 9.3 rebounds per game.

The Lopes are 16-15 overall and 4-6 in the South Sub-Region.

Aaris Bonds leads the Lopes in scoring at 21.3 ppg. Brevin Brimble is next at 16.5 ppg. Jubrile Belo is third at 15 ppg, and Veron Kalonji is averaging 12.5 ppg.

Bonds also leads the Lopes in rebounding at 9.7 rebounds per game.
